Bikes
Bikes are a fantastic way of encouraging children to exercise outdoors in a fun and exciting way. Cycling boosts confidence in children as they learn to ride unaided. In younger children learning to ride a bike develops their gross motor skills, necessary for helping them gain strength and confidence in their bodies. As children develop the skill of riding they begin to understand the concept of independence, developing self confidence and the belief that they can achieve goals if they practise and focus on the task.
There is no doubt that cycling stimulates the heart, lungs and improves circulation, all great ways of teaching children about the importance of looking after their bodies. Riding a bike can be hugely rewarding for children so they are more likely to commit to taking part in regular exercise as a result. As children ride their bike they begin to become aware of their surroundings. This allows them to socialise and interact with other children, developing social skills. Bikes are a fantasic piece of equipment for children of all ages and abilities.
