Outdoor Role Play Items: Going To Town

Spreading their Wings

In the second of our series of blogs focussing on social development and play, we looked at how you can make use of our outdoor role playing items to help children learn about complex notions like teamwork and cooperation in the home environment. This week, we’re focusing on children’s development as they grow and mature, and experience traveling beyond the safety and sanctity of the home towards the novelty and excitement of the town.

Out & About

As your children (or students) come to experience the wider world, they’ll naturally adjust to changing circumstances and often-frequented environments like the shopping centre, the cinema and more. As their primary care-giver or teacher, you will be eager to make sure they’re properly equipped for these situations, and give them the tools to navigate the wide range of scenarios they’ll be confronted with. Our wide range of role playing items and outdoor play panels help to encourage this form of social development, familiarising children with social norms and conventions in a fun, exciting environment.

Encouraging social learning and play in this manner will not only help to make your students feel more comfortable in their eventual adventures out into the wider world, but will also help to reinforce and develop an appreciation for accepted conventions and behavioural models. Recreating a shopping environment with our outdoor counter play panels, for example, helps children to understand the notion that goods and services require a form of payment. Moreover, it also enables them to develop an appreciation for social conventions such as a conversational structure based on taking turns, and the importance of politeness and manners.

Taking the Next Step

As they get older, children are naturally going to want to play, explore and push the boundaries, which is why it’s so important to give them a solid grounding of social understanding at the pre-school educational phase. Our outdoor role playing equipment has been designed to give them these firm foundations; encouraging social development and exploration through play, interaction and cooperation. Our wide range of outdoor play panels are available in great value sets or as standalone items, and can easily be re-arranged to make for an exciting, changeable play activity; peruse our variety of role play items today, and let us know how you’re incorporating social education into your curriculum! Lastly, don’t forget that our final entry; “A Walk in the Park” will be published soon, so keep visiting our blog!
