Wooden jigsaw puzzles are found in almost every toy box or games cupboard. They have a charm and appeal enjoyed by children time and time again. Visually appealing, fun and engaging they reward children with a huge sense of achievement when a piece is fitted into its correct place.
Children’s jigsaws can provide a welcome release from the more formal, structured classroom learning and are ideal multi-functional toys. They can be played with to great effect by a single child on their own, or they are the ideal for fostering multi child use, encouraging children to work together, through cooperative play to complete the jigsaw puzzle. Jigsaws are a must for any classroom or nursery.

Our wooden jigsaw puzzles cater for a wide age range. Wooden peg puzzles are the ideal introduction for young children and toddlers. As well as being fun they are hugely educational. Our range features fruits, shapes, animals, colours and plenty of other objects young children will be familiar with. The wooden peg puzzles have several chunky pieces each fitted with a plastic peg. Toddlers place the right shape into the correct place on the board, developing hand to eye coordination, fine motor skills, confidence and skill.
For children embarking on the next stage of puzzle building, we have wooden tray puzzles which provide a border for children to build within and this can make the experience a little less daunting. Tray puzzles come in a variety of piece sizes so they accommodate a range of ages for children. A number of wooden tray puzzles are layered, with each layer featuring a different image beneath that adds to the educational value. This means that whilst having fun completing the jigsaw, children can also learn about the life cycle of a ladybird, duck or even a turtle.
The larger children’s jigsaw puzzles include jigsaws which are centred round the people in our community, emergency services and people who help us. They can provide a spring board for discussion on multiple topics including natural disasters, science and nature, modern families, weather, seasons and many more.
Floor puzzles come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are educational as well as fun. Many focus on important topics including healthy eating, beneath our world and we even have a giant world map. Children can even explore the world of the dinosaurs, the conservation park or farmyard as they work to complete floor puzzles of varying sizes and piece counts. Floor puzzles can provide a useful supportive function by reinforcing what children have learnt in the formal class lesson scenario.
We also have a range of starter shaped puzzles aimed at the younger child. These are free form in shape and offer a different type of challenge to the more traditional straight edged puzzles.
Completing the range are our large piece jigsaws. These jigsaws with large, chunky pieces each feature a high quality wildlife image that will appeal to all ages. As the pieces are larger than normal, they are particularly suitable for people with limited dexterity. Equally, they can be used to encourage children to try jigsaws for the first time as the larger pieces allow other children to join in the fun. As with the other jigsaws in our range, these handcrafted jigsaws engage children in conversation and stimulates cognitive skills whilst providing a physical and mental challenge.
