Construction Toys

Construction toys are a fun and creative way of challenging young minds, accelerating their cognitive development, encouraging teamwork, social skills and problem solving. Our wide range of blocks, bricks, construction sets and pretend tool kits can be used for so many learning activities but are particularly useful for helping children understand more about maths, shape, space, measures, technology and the built environment around them. Let their imaginations run riot as you watch your budding engineers, mechanics, builders and scientists create structures and arrangements which they can then have great fun demolishing (and learning to tidy up!).

A tub of multi-coloured plastic bricks is so versatile and can be used with children throughout nursery, primary school and special educational needs (SEN) settings, from simple counting to grouping blocks with similar characteristics, eg, red bricks, blue blocks. We stock a wide range of different multi-coloured blocks and bricks in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials including: metallic, soft Q, magnetic, hollow and wooden. Designed to help develop gross motor skills, co-ordination, spatial awareness, logical reasoning, sequential planning and cognitive development, our sturdy range of building blocks and bricks is definitely worth a look, whilst the long-established Stickle Bricks range comes with teachers’ notes for activities and models.

Watch children triumph as they focus their concentration on turning our construction toy sets into recognisable objects and animals. Help them develop emotional resilience by encouraging them to try, try and try again to fit things together in different ways rather than give up when things don’t work first time.

Our colourful and realistic design and drill kits come complete with working plastic drills and bolts, so you can let your young mechanics get to work. These are ideal toys for helping them with colour and shape recognition. Stretch their imaginations and practical skills even further with our range of gears toys. Kits can be assembled into working models some of which are motorised. Children will also learn the language of manufacturing, engineering and the motor trade, identifying and working with gears, crank shafts, pulleys, ratchets and base plates.

Our Polydron range is great for teaching early years’ children the difference between the mathematical names of solid 3D shapes and flat 2D shapes. These giant construction toy sets are also marked with Braille. As well as serving as aids to teaching Braille they help children become aware of alternative forms of communication and understand the impact of sight loss.

Use our cute popoids to develop dexterity and nimble fingers in children aged 3+ as they assemble them. Our magnetic construction toys are also suitable for this age range helping with hand-eye co-ordination, problem solving and creative building.

They may look like they’re made of real wood, but our large hollow blocks are actually made from rubber wood. Due to their size, they are ideal for outdoor play, shape recognition and experimentation with size and weight.

If you’re exploring speed, motion or transport then our marble runs and superstruts toys are great teaching aids that bring these topics to life in a fun and colourful way.

All construction toy products come with storage, instructions and in many cases suggested activities.
