Giant Wooden Outdoor Scales

These Giant Wooden Outdoor Scales are sure to delight any youngsters!  They are a wonderful resource for investigative skills.  Your children can explore the effects of adding different items to containers on either side of the scales.  There are a myriad of guessing games you can play using the scales – what will happen if we add stones to one side and twigs to the other?  Which is heavier – a bucket of water or a bucket of sand?

It is a wonderful way to introduce measurement and water.  More advanced children can use it for basic maths – how many more millilitres of water do we need to add to make the sides equal?  They are a brilliant resource for investigating the wider world and effects of balance.
