Managing Behaviour with PSHE Resources

Ups & Downs

As an aspect of the national curriculum, the focus on personal, social, health and economic (often abbreviated to PSHE) education has risen dramatically in the past couple of decades, particularly in the early years education stages. As the EYFS framework stipulates, caregivers and teachers are not only responsible for managing the behaviour of their students in the classroom, but must also help aid them in ‘understanding the world’ – that is to say, encouraging their ongoing social development.  We at Edusentials now stock a range of interactive PSHE classroom items to help children express themselves, understand models of behaviour, and ultimately develop their social personalities.

Quite the Ride

To use somewhat of a threadbare cliché, your students’ academic journey will truly be an emotional roller coaster. Over the course of their school years, they’ll grow as people, forming their own autonomy whilst meeting others with different backgrounds and opinions, as well as grasping difficult concepts like teamwork and cooperation. Naturally, over the course of their academic career, problematic emotions like fear and anger – and in some cases even behavioural issues – are likely to crop up, which is why it’s important to have the right PSHE resources in place to help manage situations calmly.

Our versatile PSHE range covers a whole range of personal and social issues that your child will likely encounter over the course of their life, from managing and expressing difficult emotions to choosing how to eat healthily. We offer a range of classroom items that combine audio materials with interactive hand puppets, enabling students not only to learn more about sensitive issues like bullying or anger management, but also to anchor what they’ve absorbed in child-led interactive play.

Express Yourself

A wealth of studies conclude that when children do display instances of anger or frustration, or even demonstrate behavioural issues like aggression or simply ‘acting up’, it can often be put down to a lack of ways to properly express themselves. Learning how to express emotions, whether they’re positive or negative, is an integral part of a child’s early stage social development, and something that teachers can nurture using classroom equipment and PSHE resources. That’s why we offer a range of emotive classroom supplies and expressive aids, from Emotion Cushions to Carpets. These have been designed to help children express how they’re feeling, as well as helping them to understand each other’s complex array of feelings and emotions. They’re particularly effective in early years education when a child might not necessarily be able to find the words in their vocabulary, or in instances – like being amongst a new social group – where self-expression is simply scary.

Growing Up

School years are always going to be a tumultuous time, from your students’ first day to their results day. Encouraging healthy social development is a core part of the curriculum at every education stage, and is rightly afforded a lot of attention in the relevant frameworks. Browse through our  range of PSHE supplies today to help your children understand themselves – and the world around them – in a comfortable, interactive way.
