Emotions can be difficult for young children to express. Many youngsters don’t yet have the words to explain exactly how they are feeling. Indeed, they may not yet have the sophistication to acknowledge their own feelings.
It is extremely important to recognise and validate how a youngster is feeling. We have a lovely range of resources that help your children to open up and express themselves.
Whether you provide emotion cushions or a puppet, it is important to have the tools to hand for your children to portray themselves. Moreover, once they learn how to explain their own emotions, they can start to understand how others feel. Empathy is a wonderful skill. It is great both in the classroom and playground. When children understand that feelings are important, both their own and other people’s, it leads to a happier environment for everyone.
