Customer Focus – White Hall Academy, Essex

White Hall Academy opened its doors in September 2012. Part of the Learning Pathways Trust their main focus is to develop high academic standards and their school motto was born out of Olympic inspiration ‘Excellence, Determination, Friendship’.

As an existing customer, Donna Phillips, Admin Manager of ‘Little Stars Nursery’ which is affiliated to White Hall Academy, approached us earlier this year to quote for a range of nursery equipment and toys having secured funding of £16,000 from the 2 year free resources grant. Donna was looking for a range of sensory equipment and also wanted to expand their role play and physical activity provision. We were one of a number of suppliers who quoted and were delighted to be able to fulfil many of Donna’s requirements particularly the items for the new sensory room.

The sensory room has provided a sanctuary within the nursery where children can escape the hubbub of the main nursery. It is filled with cosy cushions, snuggle mats and sensory wall covering providing a touchy feely opportunity within a stimulating environment.

With a great commitment to the children in their care and also to fulfil their desire to support the local community, the nursery has instigated an innovative programme of adult learning courses. These courses, based over a 10 week period are designed to encourage parents into the nursery to engage with their own children in a learning activity and to understand what and how their children are taught. Working in tandem with the child care experts they learn how modern teaching methods give them the tools to support their child’s learning journey and gain confidence to offer sustained support beyond the walls of the nursery environment and hopefully throughout their lives.

In addition to these innovative projects the nursery exceeds its day to day obligations of safeguarding the children in their care. The majority of staff are trained in paediatric first aid and the team are committed to continual improvement through ongoing training.
